Tathagat Avatar Tulsi Biography
Tathagat Avatar Tulsi is a physicist from Patna, Bihar. Best known as a child prodigy, he completed high school at the age of 9. He graduated one year later and completed MSc at the age of 12, both from Patna Science College. He joined Ph.D. program in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore at the age of 17 and completed in 2010 at the age of 22. Following his PhD, he was offered a position as Assistant Professor at IIT Mumbai.
He was born in Patna in 1987. When he completed post-graduation at the age of 12 in 1999, he got national-wide attention. His name was shortlisted by Indian Government's DST to participate in a Nobel laureates’ conference in Germany. But very soon he faced a major setback which pushed him into the world of depression. It happened when Department of Science and Technology (DST) later claimed that he was a "fake prodigy". Though he claimed that he could impress three Nobel laureates with his ideas, he couldn’t prove it. Following the depression, he decided to fight back by completing PhD, gaining recognition as a scientist.
Tulsi was admitted by the Indian Institute of Science, where he completed the Ph.D. thesis on "Generalizations of the Quantum Search Algorithm". He also co-authored the research manuscript "A New Algorithm for Fixed-point Quantum Search” aside Lov Grover at the age of 17. His name has been listed among the most gifted Asian youngsters by TIME magazine, in the field of science. ‘My Brilliant Brain’ was a documentary telecasted by National Geographic Channel, which show casted Tathagat Avatar Tulsi’s successful story.
