Tara Anne Fonseca Biography 
Tara Anne Fonseca has been one of the earliest successful models from India, who claimed international fame. She was the winner of the prestigious beauty pageant - Miss Asia Pacific 1973, only the second Indian to win this title after Zeenat Aman in 1970, who became a famous Bollywood actress later. The title was earned for the third and last time only in the year 2000, by Bollywood diva Diya Mirza. Though both the winners Zeenat Aman and Diya Mirza tried their luck in Bollywood, Tara Anne Fonseca stayed away from acting field. She got married to Victor Menezes, an engineer and banker, and settled with her family life.
Tara was born in Bangalore. She was the second runner-up of Miss India contest. Thus this 5ft 8inch model won Femina Miss India Asia Pacific title for the year 1973 which gave her the entry to Miss Asia Pacific 1973. It was a time when beauty pageants were not so popular in the country and after she was crowned the winner, Indian fashion industry has witnessed many advances and achievements in the international frame. She was crowned the title by Janet Coutts of Australia, who was holding the title.
The event was held on May 31, 1973 in Manila, Philippines and contestants from 14 countries participated in the contest. It was the sixth edition of the contest. Nehama Fass from Israel was crowned First runner-up, while Lely Herawati Soendoro from Indonesia, Chung Keum-ok from Korea and Deborah Seccombe from Australia were crowned the next three positions respectively. Only less data is available about this successful model, who placed India’s name in the international fashion map.
