Tara Biography

Tara is an actress of Kannada movies. She is also a politician with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Tara is most seen in movies based on social welfare subjects. She won National awards for best actress for a similar kind of role in Kannada movie, Hasina in the year 2005. She is an integral part of Kannada parallel cinema and has appeared in more than 500 commercials also. She is the first actor/actress to be elected as chief president for the "Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy" (KCA). Her career spans about 20 years and she has also worked in rest south Indian languages, though a few.  

Tara debut silver screen with the Tamil movie, Ingeyum Oru Gangai released in the year 1984. Her first Kannada film Thulasidala was released the following year. However his first major break was Guri in 1986. After that she appeared on silver screen both as a leading actress as well as in supporting role. Her performance in Girish Karnad's Kanooru Heggadithi was one of her earliest noted performances. She won best actress award for the first time in the year 1991, with the movie, Krama. Her role in earliest movies of Mani Ratnam, Nayagan and Agni Natchathiram need special mention. She won her single National award in the year 2005 for the movie, Hasina.

In 1999, she won Karnataka State Film Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the movie, Kaanuru Heggadathi. In 2006, she won Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress for the movie, Cyanide. In 2007, she got Suvarna Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie, Shri Kshetra Kaivara Thathaiah. In 2012, she won Udaya Award for Best Supporting Actress for Bhageerathi. Her memorable roles include - Golmaal Radhakrishna 2 , Operation Antha, Sipayi, C.B.I. Shankar, Kurigalu Saar Kurigalu, Aagodella Olledakke, Nalla, Avale Nanna Hendthi, Ibbaru Hendira Muddina Police, Mathadana and Karnana Sampathu.
