T. N. Gopakumar Biography 
T. N. Gopakumar, also known as T.N.G is a Malayalam journalist and celebrated television host of Asianet Channel. He is better known as the producer, host and anchor of the popular weekly programme Kannadi, which has completed more than 1000 episodes and 20 years on Asianet. Through this popular show he interviews famous Malayalam personalities belonging to different fields, real life stories and collects funds for charity purposes too. He also serves as the Editor in Chief of Asianet News. He is a noted writer too who has won Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for his book Suchindrum Rekhakal in 2011. He is widely accepted as a senior journalist all over Kerala and is also known for his philanthropic works done through the show “Kannadi”. He has a macro image in Malayalam journalism. He is also known as a scholar, film director and columnist.
He was born in 1957. He is married to his love, Hether. While studying at college he was Cricket team captain and it was during this time when he fell in love with Hether. Though he has worked with different media organizations, for the past 20 years he is associated with Asianet. He started with Indian Express as a journalist, followed by Mathrubhumi, News Today, Times of India etc.
At present Gopakumar has become a brand image in the television industry in Kerala. Though many programs attempted to duplicate the success of `Kannadi’, none have been able to replicate it. The program started off by airing the stories of people crushed by poverty, disease, and social prejudices and viewers began to send donations. The program also accumulates funds from different parts of the world for humanity purposes and social causes.
He died of cancer on January 30, 2016 in Thiruvananthapuram.
