Syed Shahnawaz Hussain Biography
Syed Shahnawaz Hussain Syed Shahnawaz Hussain is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a former All India Secretary, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJP Youth Wing), Ex Cabinet Minister. His home town originally is Buzrug Dwar Warisnagar, a small village of Samastipur. He was born in Supaul Bihar.
He was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in the year 1999 and was appointed Minister of State and held various portfolios such as food processing industries, youth affairs and sports and human resource development at different times. He was given independent charge of the Ministry of Coal in 2001 and was elevated to the rank of a Cabinet Minister with Civil Aviation portfolio in September 2001.
He held the record of being the youngest Cabinet Minister ever in the Government of India. Later he held the Textiles portfolio as Cabinet Minister from 2003 to 2004. In the Indian political circles he is often referred to as 'The Original Youth leader'.
He lost the 2004 general elections but he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in November 2006 in a by-election when he won the vacant seat of Bhagalpur in Bihar. He entered the 15th Lok Sabha again from Bhagalpur in 2009. He contested the last Lok Sabha election in 2014 from Bhagalpur but this time he lost with a small margin.
At present he is Member of Delhi Wakf Board, Organising Secretary of All India IMAM Organisation, General Secretary of Rashtriya Shakti Foundation and Chairman of Indo-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Group.
He has so far visited Abu Dhabi, Australia, Bahrain, Bangkok, Canada, China, Dubai, Egypt, France, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia , Sri Lanka, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, Tazakisthan, U.K. and U.S.A.
