Syam Pushkaran Biography

Syam Pushkaran is a successful scriptwriter associated with Malayalam cinema. He has written scripts of many successful Malayalam films such as Salt N' Pepper, 22 Female Kottayam, Da Thadiya, Idukki Gold, Iyobinte Pusthakam, Rani Padmini, and Maheshinte Prathikaram. Syam is known for his association with production director Aashiq Abu, since his debut film Salt N' Pepper in 2011. After the unpredicted success of the debut film, he worked with Aashiq babu in frequent intervals. He co-scripted the movie, aside Dileesh Nair, and they together scripted the movies, Da Thadiya and Idukki Gold.

 

Syam Pushkaran was born in Thuravoor of Cherthala Taluk of Alappuzha District. The appetite for ‘good cinema' prompted two youngsters two write a film that celebrates food. That’s how Salt N' Pepper was born in 2011. The film was scripted by Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair. After the flop of Daddy Cool in 2009, the movie also marked the successful beginning of youngster director, Aashiq Abu. Since then the duo has worked in many movies with the same director and most of them turned to be successful ventures too. Though Syam mostly wrote commercial scripts, with the highly acclaimed Iyobinte Pusthakam, was one among best period dramas Malayalam cinema has seen in the recent times.

 

He worked with Aashiq Babu for the movies, Salt N' Pepper, 22 Female Kottayam, Idukki Gold, Rani Padmini, and Maheshinte Prathikaram. He wrote the script of the segment – Sethulaksmi for the movie, 5 Sundarikal directed by Aashiq Babu. Rani Padmini – a woman centric film received rave reviews from critics. Maheshinte Prathikaram – is his latest work which turned out to be a big hit. The movie produced by Aashiq Abu belongs to comedy genre and is directed by the debutant Dileesh Pothan.
