Swapnil Joshi Biography

Swapnil Joshi is a film and television actor who works in Hindi and Marathi languages. In 2013, he debut theatre by playing lead role in Marathi play, ‘Get well soon’. As a television actor, his most noted works include - Krishna (1993), Papad Pol - Shahabuddin Rathod Ki Rangeen Duniya, Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyaan (2005), Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta and Golmaal Hai Bhai Sab Golmaal Hai on SAB TV. He has also acted in popular Marathi films, Checkmate (2008), Duniyadaari (2013) and Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai (2010). He has also appeared as a Judge of Marathi program, Fu bai fu. He married Leena Aradhye, a dentist on 16 December 2011. It was his second marriage. Earlier he was married to Aparna, she was also a dentist. He has also done cameo appearances in Bollywood movies like Dil vil pyar vyar and Gulam-E-Mustafa.

Joshi was born on October 18, 1977 in Mumbai. He did his schooling from Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution, Charni Road. He took B. Com from Sydenham College, Mumbai. He is also a qualified lawyer. He started his career as a child artist in the year 1986, with Doordarshan serial Uthar Ramayan, where he played the role of Kusha. This serial was a sequel to Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. In 1993, he was offered the lead role as Krishna for the mythological serial, Krishna which made him immensely popular. It was broadcasted on DD Metro. People began to see him as real Krishna and it caused him difficulties as he was not offered any other role. So he took a break from the industry and concentrated on studies.

Sanjeev Bhattacharya’s Campus was his comeback work. Later he worked in television serials as well as standup comedian in many comedy shows. He was the runner-up of Comedy Circus 1. He has worked in television soaps like - Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kehta Hai Dil and Hudd kar dee.
