Sushant Singh Biography

Sushant Singh is a film and television actor known for supporting roles. He came into the limelight for playing the villain in Ram Gopal Varma's Jungle. His work in the movies – Darna Mana Hai, Dum, 16 December, Seher and Legend of Bhagat Singh in supporting roles were well appreciated. Apart from Hindi, he has worked in National award winning English movie, Ambedkar, Telugu movies Dubai Seenu and Daravu and Punjabi movie, Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris. He has also played good roles in Kaun, Josh, Satya, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag: Journey of a Woman, Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, Knock out, Lahore, Family: Ties of Blood, D, Yeh Saali Zindagi, Mirch and Rakhta Charitra. He played serial killer’s role in Darna Mana Hai, the thriller.

Singh was born on March 9, 1972 in Bijnor, UP. He did his schooling at three schools, GB Pant Inter Collage Bhowali, residential public school in Nainital and Birla Vidya Mandir. He did MA in literature from Kirori Mal College. It was during this time when he got involved in stage plays. First noted work of this actor is Jungle released in 2000, where he played negative role. Fardeen Khan, Sunil Shetty and Urmila were the lead actors of the movie and it won critics’ appreciation as well. In 2002, he played the role of Sukhdev in The Legend of Bhagat Singh which was well appreciated by critics. Thus he established himself as one of the best young character artists of the time.

In 2000, he won International Indian Film Academy awards for best villain for the movie – Jungle. He also received screen awards nomination for the same. In 2002, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ at Star Screen Awards. He has also hosted a few shows on television like Saavdhan India @11, Viruddh and Wanted: High Alert. He has also acted in television series – Dhadkan and Gulaal.
