Suresh Peters Biography

Suresh Peters is a popular music director of Malayalam, who is also known as a playback singer. As a music director he got instant success through Punjabi house (1998) and Thenkasi Pattanam (2000 – Malayalam and Tamil). One Man Show, Independence, Runway, Aparichithan, Mazhathulli Kilukkam, Twenty-20, Ravanaprabhu and Colors are other noted movies as a music director. He has also released 4 Tamil albums - Minnal, Oviyum, Kaathiruppaen and Engiruntho. He has sung numerous memorable songs for A. R. Rahman.

 

As a singer, he got instant recognition through one of the earliest chartbuster hits of A. R. Rahman, "Chikku Bukku Rayile" from Gentleman. He sang the song aside G. V. Prakash Kumar and it was the first screen appearance of noted actor-dancer, Prabhudeva. As a playback singer, he has rendered his voice for numerous foot- tapping numbers for Rahman. "Chandralekha” of Thiruda Thiruda, "Columbus Columbus of Jeans and "Pettai Rap" and Urvasi Urvasi of Kathalan are still popular among music listeners. The song, "Style" from the film Sivaji: The Boss is another noted song of Peters; once again music given by Rahman. He has also sung the Hindi version of many Rahman songs, the most popular being Humma Humma of Bombay aside Remo Fernandas.

 

Since childhood days, Suresh dreamt to become a music director. His full name is Suresh Clement Peters. Though he doesn’t claim any filmy background, he is known across south India for his distinct voice. He has given life to numerous Rahman songs and almost all of them are super hits. While at college he started a music band aside his friends – Rock Band. Its keyboard player was none other than legendary musician, A. R. Rahman! They together have done numerous stage shows at Chennai and when Rahman started composing music and jingles, Peters too assisted him, thus joining the film industry. “Chik bik” was his first song as a playback singer and the song became a huge hit that he never turned back.

 

Tamil album ‘Minnal’ was his first noted work as a music director. Though known for fast numbers, he has given music to melodious tracks as well. As a music director, a few of his chartbuster hits of Aakasha Meghangal and Ariyathe of Raavana Prabhu, Nandalala of Independence, Ente thenkasi and Kadamizhiyil of Thenkasi pattanam, Therirangi of Mazhathulli Kilukkam and Sonare Sonare of Punjabi House.
