Suresh Bhardwaj Biography 
Suresh Bhardwaj is a noted theater personality known as a playwright and play director. He has also directed a few television serials. In 2005 he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for lighting design. He is the director of Aakar Kala Sangam, a Delhi based theatre group and also currently serves as the head of National School of Drama's extension programme.
He was born in Delhi on June 6, 1955. He was brought up in the metro city where he completed his education. After post-graduation he joined National School of Drama, New Delhi. At first he worked as a research fellow and in 1981 became technical director at Rangmandal in the Bharat Bhavan arts complex, Bhopal. In 1985, Bhardwaj formed the theatre group Sambhav to give new definition to modern Indian theatre. Same year he shifted his work to cinema and television as well, particularly for Doordarshan when it was the only television channel available during 1980’s.
Alter he produced programs like Aap Ki Adalat for Zee TV and Aasmaan Kaise Kaise, Lekhu, Gumraah, Uth Jaag Musafir, Apne Apne Sapne and many more for Doordarshan. He joined the faculty of the National School of Drama as visiting professor in 1988 and later appointed as its permanent faculty in the year 1991. Later he became associate professor (theatre architecture) of NSD and currently works as professor. He served as dean of NSD from 2000 to 2002.
Habib Tanveer Rang puraskaar-2011 by Ras Kala Manch, Haryana, Special ROSCO (UK) award from the Chaman Lal Memorial Society and Patliputra Award by ‘Praangan’ Patna for lifetime achievement in drama are the major honours received by him. He has also served as Jury for various theater workshops and has been the member of several cultural committees.
