Sunetra Choudhury Biography

Sunetra Choudhury is a journalist and star anchor of Indian news channel NDTV 24x7. She started her career journey in the year 1999 with daily, ‘The Indian Express’. In 2002, she entered television as a news anchor and became very popular. She studied from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi and hails from Sikkim. In 2011, this reporter reported an abused comment told by an Indian politician. She has published one book titled ‘Braking news’ for the subject of journalism, which is a delightfully frank account of one woman's understanding of why the country voted as it did. She, along with her team conducted a journey through many parts of India and conducts a study on how voters cast their votes based on caste, religion etc. Based on these data she did a daily show called the Election Express, two months prior to the general elections in May 2009.

She completed journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi and started her career with ‘The Indian Express’ in 1999. Then she joined STAR News as a reporter in Hindi in 2002. In 2003, she joined the New Delhi based NDTV and till now, she works with the same channel as a news reporter and news anchor. As a reporter she covers different subjects like natural disasters, crime, investigations and politics.

 

She published a book, Braking news in the year 2010. It was a racy, readable account of a journey by Sunetra Choudhury and her colleague Naghma during summer of 2009, two months before the general elections. She travelled to remote villages as well as places without electricity to know the insight of an Indian voter.
