Sundeep Malani Biography

Sundeep Malani is a film director, film actor, screenplay writer, documentary film maker, choreographer, and a film critic and perhaps the most controversial personality in Indian film industry for his movies. Sandeep Malani was born in to a Roman Catholic family in Mumbai and was raised in Mangalore, Karnataka. Malani did his early schooling at the Milagres School in Mangalore. malani's film career took off in 1995 film A Dance Story in English as Director and Choreographer. Sundeep Malani co-directed the Kannada film, Miss California, which was the debut film of actor Diganth.    

He has has done a number of TV shows as host for local Mangalorean channels, events organiser, costume designer and directed a few music videos for local channels involving dancers and stage artistes of Mangalore. Malani has also been a part of the direction team in Onir's "I Am" Produced by Sanjay Suri Onirfilm, working on the "I Am Abhimanyu" and "I Am Omar" segments. Malani has acted in a few theatre plays as well.

He has directed a variety of short films, some of them covering so-called controversial issues such as AIDS "Jo Jo Laali – a heart wrenching lullaby" and a little more controversial homosexuality "Shaayad". His other achievement is a short film that was made in three languages- "Hum Tum Aur Loan" (Hindi), "Yella Ok, Loan Yaake" (Kannada) and "A Loanly Life" (English) are worth mentioning here. Malani has directed two documentries first in 2005 "Fun With Language" in Japanese and the other one in 2010 "LMAI The Evolution" in English.
