Sundar Pichai is an Indian American computer engineer. He was born in 1972 and is serving as the senior vice president of Chrome at Google Inc. He studied at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and was awarded Silver Medal for his performance in his studies. Then he joined Stanford University and obtained his M.S. degree. He finished his Master of Business Applications at Wharton School. He was glorified as Siebel Scholar and Palmer Scholar.
He was handling various projects at Applied Materials and was in the position of engineering and product manager. He also worked as the management consultant with McKinsey & Company for a number of software and semiconductor clients. He joined Google in 2004 and is leading the product management and working for the Google’s client software products that include Google Chrome and Chrome Operating System.
He gave demonstration of the Google Chrome Operating System on 19th November 2009. He open sourced the new video codec VP8 on 20th May 2010 and introduced a new video format WebM. He has 12 years of experience in developing the high tech consumer products. His group introduced various Google products that include Google Toolbar, iGoogle, Google Chrome, Desktop Search and Gadgets, Gears and Google Pack.
The Chrome OS he launched is supposed to be a lightweight, open source operating system that mainly targets at netbooks. It integrates the Web browser directly into the OS. He is married and has two children, a son and a daughter. He is a good chess player.
