Sudipta Chakraborty Biography

Sudipta Chakraborty is an actress from Bengal who works in movies and television. She is best known for her character Malati, a maid in 2000 year movie Bariwali, for which she bagged National award for best supporting role. The same movie bagged National award for best actress for its leading female lead - Kirron Kher. Sudipta was earlier married to popular Bengali and film actor Rajesh Sharma and currently married to Abhishek Saha. Upcoming Bengali actress Bidipta Chakraborty is her younger sister. Bidipta is now married to Birsa Dasgupta and is currently a creative director for two software companies, RealReel Private Limited and Lookthrough Entertainment.

After the completion of school education from Kendriya Vidyalaya, she took graduation in English from IGNOU. She began her acting career with her father Biplab Ketan Chakraborty’s famous theater group since she was a toddler. Later she performed in all media of entertainment – movies and television, apart from theater. She entered movies in the late 1990s and bagged a National award and BFJA award for best supporting actress in 2000 for the movie Bariwali. Half serious, Novel Chor, C/O Sir, Goynar Baksho, Abosheshey and Hitlist are some of her noted performances in the recent times.

She is a well-established actress from Bengal at present, who has a good acting range. She has now returned to theatre after a long break of 11 years. The last play she did was Theatrewala's "Baghu Manna". After that the theatre group got disbanded. She acted in Debesh Chattopadhyay's "Brain" in 2012 after a break of 11 years. She was seen in an electrifying role in Bengali play Bikele Bhorer Shorshey Phool directed by Debesh Chatterjee.
