Stuart Binny Biography

Stuart Binny is an Indian cricketer who plays domestic cricket for Karnataka team. He is the son of legendary cricketer of India, Roger Binny who played a significant role for India’s win in the 1983 World Cup. He was the top wicket taker of the world cup series taking 18 wickets. Stuart has played two ODIs for India, though was not successful. He is best known as an all-rounder and has a good run in 20-20 matches and a part of India’s IPL series. He has played 72 T20 matches for India scoring 888 runs and 38 wickets at a bowling average of 23.02. Stuart is married to star anchor of ESPN - Mayanti Langer since 2012.


He was born in Bangalore in 1984. His full name is Stuart Terence Roger Binny. After school studies he took coaching in IACA under coach Imtiaz Ahmed. He made his Karnataka debut in the 2003-04 season though failed to keep momentum for a long period as a performer. Later he recognized his talent in playing limited over matches and with the introduction of IPL games in 2007, he gained success through it.  He got associated with IPL in 2010 as a member of Sachin Tendulkar’s Mumbai Indians. Next season, he played for Rajasthan Royals. He was also associated with Rajasthan Royals in 2013 IPL and 2013 CL T20. He has also played for Hyderabad Heroes, ICL India XI and Karnataka.


He made his T20 debut in 2009 against Goa at Visakhapatnam. He played his first One-day international game for India in 2014 where he was included for the tour to New Zealand. In his first match, he bowled a single over giving 8 runs. He also played in the Arise Asia Cup - 2014.
