Soubin Shahir Biography

Soubin Shahir is a budding character artist of Malayalam cinema, known for essaying comic roles. PT Master in Malayalam blockbuster Premam (2015) is his best role up-to-date. He most recently played the pivot role of Crispin in 2016 super hit - Maheshinte Prathikaaram. The central plot of the film starts with a problem created by the character Crispin, and he excelled in his role as a comic actor. The Juice Juice Song by Soubin Shahir is also an instant hit. Earlier this promising young actor has played noted roles in Charlie, Rani Padmini, Loham, Premam, Chandreta evideya, Kadal Kadannoru Mathukkutty, Annayum Rasoolum, 5 Sundarikal etc. Kali and Kammatipaadam, both starring Dulquer Salmaan and Darvinte Parinamam starring Prithviraj are his upcoming films.

He belongs to Chullickal, Fort Kochi. He joined film industry as an assistant director, before facing camera. Actually this budding character artist dreamt to become a director. As an assistant director, his entry happened with the Mammootty film, Chronic Bachelor (2003) where he assisted Siddhique. Later he worked with many leading Malayalam directors - Fazil, Siddique, Rafi-Mecartin, P. Sukumar, Santhosh Sivan, Rajeev Ravi, and Amal Neerad. He faced the camera for the first time in 2013 after spending one decade as assistant director. He rose to fame with his debut Malayalam film - Annayum Rasoolum (2013), where he played the character Collin. After that he got many character roles, which he accepted and now he is a promising actor of Malayalam cinema.

Physical Education teacher in Premam was his breakthrough role of his career. His combination with his real-life friend Vinay Fort cheered the audience. In fact every character of this blockbuster hit has made an impact on audience’ mind and Shahir is not an exception. In every movie he has created a space for him and the song – ‘Juice juice juice kummattika juice’ from the recent release Maheshinte Prathikaaram is an instant hit.
