Sonia Singh (journalist) Biography

Sonia Singh is a successful journalist and well-known TV host associated with NDTV. Currently she hosts the show ‘The NDTV Dialogues’ on NDTV. She also serves the position of editorial director and president of the NDTV ethics committee. Sonia Singh is married to noted Congress leader R. P. N. Singh, a former parliamentarian from Delhi since 2002 and the couple has three daughters. Sonia is a Chevening Scholar and completed her broadcast journalism course at Cardiff. In 2015 she received the best Editor in Chief at the Enba awards.

She was born in New Delhi on 21 September 1970. Her schooling was completed at Convent of Jesus and Mary, and later she completed graduation and Master’s in English literature from St Stephens College, Delhi. On a scholarship she got opportunity to study Italian language at Perugia. Later she completed her broadcast journalism course at Cardiff. She joined NDTV in 1992 as a researcher and later became a producer. She was only 22 when she started her professional career with NDTV. She produced the show, The World This Week for Doordarshan.

When she joined NDTV, satellite channels have just started in India and over the years, she witnessed the huge expansion of NDTV and its huge viewership. She owns a long stint of more than two decades with NDTV. While serving as the Editorial Director for the NDTV news network, she has reported many leading incidents over the time. As a star anchor of NDTV, she is a recipient of numerous awards also. Best Talk Show, Best Anchor and Ficci young achiever are the major awards received by her. It’s quite surprising that she was camera shy when she started her career in journalism.
