Soham Chakraborty (singer) Biography

Soham Chakraborty is a popular playback singer associated with Bengali cinema and Bollywood. Started singing career at a very young age he won the singing talent hunt show - Zee's "Sa-re-ga-ma" in the year 2000.  He was only 10 years old then. Apart from several Bengali movies, he has also rendered his voice for a few Bollywood songs. His most popular song belongs to the movie “Life In A... Metro” and the song is "In dino". He shot to instant fame after singing this song and received Screen Award for Best Playback Singer – Male 2008. He has also done jingles like Emami and Mac Donalds with music director Pritam.

Soham, a Bengali started singing at a very young age and he trained in Hindustani classical music under the guidance of Pandit Jayendra Ghosh, Ustad Mohammed Sagaruddin Khan Saab and Sukhdev Sengupta. It was the advice of two music maestros of Bollywood - Bappi Lahiri and O P Nayyar he shifted his base from Bengal to Mumbai to get good opportunities here. He reached Mumbai for the first time in 2002. He had to face a lot of struggles in Bollywood.

Though he got opportunity to sing two tracks for Pritam’s music – Garam Masala in 2005 (Ada and Dil Samander), both the songs got dubbed by other artists later. Yet Pritam gave him opportunity to sing in his jingles. In fact, his first big break “In dino” was given by the same composer himself. He was also given the songs - In Dino (Remix) and Kar Salaam for the same movie. T-Series gave him opportunity to sing in 13 languages including south Indian movies. "Pal Mein Hi" of Chance Pe Dance, "Pehli Dafa Hai" of Love Possible, "Dil Laga Na" of Dhoom 2, Title track of All the Best: Fun Begins, Khudaya Khair of Billu and "Karle Mujhse Pyaar - Remix" of Toh Baat Pakki! are some of his Bollywood songs.
