Smilie Suri Biography

Smilie Suri is an Indian model and Bollywood actress. She is a trained dancer and has also learnt Kathak from guru, Vijayshree Choudhary. She is most known for her leading role in Mohit Suri’s directorial venture, Kalyug where she played the leading role opposite Kunal Khemu. It happened to be actor Kunal Khemu’s debut film as an adult actor. Though her role was brief her simple Punjabi girl looks and songs were well noticed. She is the sister of the director of the same film – Mohit Suri. This movie was produced by her own uncles – Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. This movie was one among the biggest hits of 2006 and the romantic song, ‘Tujhe dekh dekh’ pictured on Smilie and Kunal and sung by Rahet Fateh Ali Khan is still remembered by millions.  She is the first cousin of actors Emraan Hashmi, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt.

Smilie Suri started her Bollywood journey by assisting her brother Mohit Suri in his debut directorial venture, Zeher. This movie starred Imraan Hashmi and Shamitha Shetty in leading roles and was a box office success as well. Kalyug was the second project of this director and casted her sister as simple girl in this movie. The movie was the best in every aspect and her role as heroine was well appreciated.  She is still remembered for the role she played in this movie. Suri was with Bollywood choreographer Shiamak Davar's group for five years before she joined movies. She has been trained by Sandeep Soparrkar.

She did one more movie in Bollywood, Yeh mera India. This movie also included a star cast of Anupam Kher, Seema Biswas and Rajpal Yadav. But this movie didn’t work at box office. She was starred in one more movie – Downtown. But the movie was never released. Then she appeared in guest role in her brother’s movie Crook and Teesri Aankh: The Hidden Camera as well.
