Sivamani Biography 
Sivamani is a percussionist who performs live in many concerts as well as work in movies. He gained attention and recognition with his long-term association with music maestro A. R. Rahman. he has assisted Rahman in many live concerts, in India and abroad. He plays several instruments at a time - drums, octoban, darbuka, udukai, and kanjira. He is known for her versatility, knowledge in rhythms and speed. He performed drumming during the IPL Championships in 2008 and 2010 and is affiliated with the Chennai Super Kings team.
His father, S. M. Anandan is also a famous percussionist. Anandan Sivamani was born on 1 December 1959 in Chennai. He began drumming at the age of seven and started his musical career at the age of 11. He shifted to Mumbai during this time. Noel Grant and Billy Cobham are his real inspirations. In 1990, he got opportunity to share the stage with his model, Billy Cobham at Mumbai's Rang Bhavan. He regards S. P. Balasubrahmanyam as his godfather.
Before getting close with western music, his first association was with music maestros of Carnatic music. Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, T. V. Gopalakrishnan, Valliyapatti Subramaniam Pazhanivel, and L. Shanka are a few among those carnatic vocalists with whom Sivamani worked first. Sivamani has since collaborated with several musicians including Louis Banks and conducts foreign tours with Rahman. He has also been a part of a musical group called Shraddha. Other prominent figures of this troupe include - Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan, U. Srinivas and Loy Mendonsa. He is also a part of musical bands like "Asia Electrik" and "Silk & Shrada."
He plays drums for many leading music composers for movies. Roja, Rang De Basanti,Swades, Taal, Lagaan, Dil Se.., Guru and Rockstar are those big films for he has been associated with Rahman. Songs like - Kadhal Rojave, Pudhu Vellai Malai, Chaiya Chaiya and Nadaan Parinde need special mention. He has also been a part of several private albums and has received Kalaimamani award from Tamil Nadu State government in the year 2009.
