Simple Gogoi Biography

Simple Gogoi is a renowned female director of Assamese language. She has also directed Ad Films, music videos and television serials. Junak for the Singer Nirmali Das and Imagine for the singer Freya are her popular music videos as a video director. She also directed Mega Assamese Serial - Aakakh and Anurag Tumar Babey. Priyanka and Tumi Jodi Kuwa are the noted Assamese Movies which she directed. Simple currently lives in Guwahati with her brother.

Simple was born in Jorhat, Assam on 1 August 1976 as the second child of Sarbeswar Gogoi and Purnima Gogoi. She has two siblings - Abhilash Gogoi and Panchamita Gogoi. She graduated from Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat and moved to Russia in 1998. At Russia she did a diploma course on advertising, editing and direction at Moscow State University of Culture and Arts. She also worked as a faculty at Peoples' Friendship University of Russia for a brief period before returning to India. She returned to India in 2001 and worked for a brief period as assistant director. She assisted Shivam Nair for TV serial Rooh on Zee TV, Manas Adhikari for two years in Guwahati and also worked on house call World of Entertainment. In the year 2002, she entered Assamese movies.

She has worked as a director and scriptwriter for Assamese movies, television serials as well as theater work. Since June 2013, she works as Creative Concept Director at DY 365 News Channel. Tumi Jodi Kuwa (2013) - a musical, romantic drama film was her recent release which was well received. The movie starred Prasenjit Borah, Jupitora Bhuyan, Munmi Kalita and Rupam Sharma in lead roles.
