Sijoy Varghese Biography

Sijoy Varghese is an ad film maker, actor and screenwriter from Kerala. He appears in character roles in Malayalam movies. Most recently he was seen portraying the character role of Zack, the coach of Dulquer Salmaan in the smash hit – Bangalore Days released in on May 30, 2014. This movie proved to be the real break to his acting career though he prefers to remain behind the camera. He started his career as an assistant director in 1991.Then he moved to advertising field and returned back to movies once again and played a character role in Malayalam movie ABCD, starring Dulquer Salmaan with whom he shares a good rapport.

He was born in Edappally, Kochi, Kerala. His schooling was done at his hometown and many other places and completed graduation. In those days he lost both his parents. He married Tessy Raphel from Thrissur and the couple has three children. He joined film industry as an assistant director to Kamal in 1991. He assisted Joshy Mathew for the movie – Nakshatrakoodaram, thus beginning his friendship with Malayalam film industry. Later he assisted many directors of the industry like T S Suresh Babu and Jomon till mid 1990s. He also served as the executive producer & associate with Shaji N Karun in 1994, for dubbing the movie Gandhi to 14 languages.

To join ad industry, he was suggested by Rajiv Menon. Thus he turned an ad film maker and made more than 60 commercials. He also did 12 national brand campaigns in India. He also joined hands with Ad Film Maker Mathew Paul to make some corporate films, documentaries and ad films. “Unnikkinnoru Kuda Venam” for Johns Umbrella was one of his early breakthroughs. He played the role of a Police Commissioner in ABCD in 2013, marking his acting debut. He has also been the part of hit movies like 5 Sundarikal, Thira and Bangalore days.
