Shivaji Dev Biography

Shivaji Dev is a Tamil film actor, better known as the grandson of legendary actor of Tamil cinema – Sivaji Ganeshan. He is the younger son of film producer Ramkumar Ganesan, the elder son of Sivaji and is he nephew of film actor Prabhu Ganeshan. Noted film actor Vikram Prabhu of Kumki fame is his cousin. His step brother Dushyanth Ramkumar has also acted in a few Tamil movies and is a film and serial producer. Actress Sripriya is his aunt. He is often credited to as ‘Junior Sivaji’ in film sets. Shivaji made his debut in Venkatesh's Singakutty (2008), and has later acted in movies - Pudhumughangal Thevai, Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum and Nandanam (unreleased) in lead roles. Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum is his best work up-to-date.

He was born in Chennai on 20 September 1989. He made his film debut in the year 2008 with Venkatesh's Singakutty, where he was paired with Gowri Munjal. The movie received negative response from critics and was a box office failure. The following year he joined Balu Mahendra's film institute, where he underwent training in acting for one year. Then he got associated with theater plays. Within a short period he gained attention as a stage actor through a few characters he played. The role of an English butler in The Importance of a Hat was one of his noted roles. He also directed plays - Merry Christmas and Growing up.

Pudhumughangal Thevai and Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum were his next released movies. Pudhumughangal Thevai received negative reviews from critics, though his acting skills were noted. Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum had both theatric and You tube release in 2014, which received positive reviews from critics. Shilpa Bhatt and Anusha Varma played female leads for the movie. The film was officially selected for screening at the Madrid International Film Festival 2014 and got a hand written appreciation letter from Rajinikanth.
