Shilpa Sakhlani Biography

Shilpa Sakhlani is a successful television actress. She has worked for a few Bollywood movies as well. She is married to actor Apurva Agnihotri of ‘Pardes’ fame. Together they have worked in Jassi jaisa koi nahin – a successful serial of Sony Television telecasted during 2003 – 2006.  In the television show Pati Patni Aur Woh, she appeared along with her husband.  In the dance competition Nach Baliye, she participated along with him too. She is better known for her role as Ganga in the popular soap opera of Ekta Kapoor, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She hosts kids’ talent hunt show - Rin Mera Star Superstar. She has also appeared in the Bollywood movie, Tere liya, playing the main lead.

Shilpa Sakhlani was born in Mumbai on January 19, 1982. Shilpa started working as a television actress at the age of 17 while she was studying commerce at HR College Mumbai. Her popular television serial is always, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi of Star Plus, the longest soap opera of Indian television. Character played by Shilpa in this television serial was Ganga Sahil Virani. She has also played the leading role as Lavanya in the serial Lavanya and as Kkusum in Khusum. Both these serials were very popular and she became very famous. Her other television serials include - Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Shanno Ki Shaadi and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. She played the role of Vidhi in the super hit television serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, where she worked with her future husband too.

In the serial, Shanno ki shaadi, the character enacted by her was Shaloo. She played the role of Tanu/Rachel D'Mello in the successful melodrama, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. She has also participated in television shows Survivor India and Welcome - Baazi Mehmaan-Nawaazi ki.  She finished 12th in Survivor India and was voted out on Day 30. On May 20, 2012, during a high-profile rave party at Oakwood Premier Hotel in Juhu, she along with her husband Apurva was one among those who tested positive for drugs. The accused Agnihotris have filed applications seeking immunity from prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
