Shibu Baby John Biography

Shibu Baby John is an Indian politician from Kerala who current serves as the labour Minister of Kerala. He is the son of prominent politician belonging to Kerala Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) - Baby John known for his excellence to manage political crises. Shibu too belongs to RSP, which forms a part of Congress led UDF.  He is an engineering graduate plunged into politics. He holds a B. Tech from TKM college of Engineering, Kollam. He is also the General Secretary of Revolutionary Socialist Party (Baby John). In the previous state assembly elections he defeated then state minister N. K. Premachandran with a lead of 6061 votes from his favourite Chavara constituency.

 

Shibu Baby John completed B Tech from TKM College of Engineering. His wife Annie Constantine was also a student of the same college. While Shibu studied mechanical, Annie was in civil engineering. They fell in love while at college and kept it a secret as both the families were conservative. Earlier too in the childhood they had meet each other and Annie’s grandfather, A V Fernandez, a pioneer in the sea-food industry, was a friend of Baby John, Shibu’s father. After completing her engineering degree, Annie enrolled in the management course of Cochin University and they tied knot on January 17, 1988. The couple has two sons. Annie teaches Communicative English at John and Mary International. 

 

After engineering, Shibu was in export business. He joined politics in 2001 and contested from Chavara constituency with RSP ticket in 2001 and got elected to state assembly for the first time. Since then he is active in state politics. He quit RSP in 2006 to launch Revolutionary Socialist Party (Baby John) in 2005.
