Shekhar Suman Biography

Shekhar Suman is a Bollywood actor, singer and a successful TV anchor. As an actor, he is most noted for his role as leading actor in ‘Ulsav’ opposite Rekha. More than a film actor, he is most known for his work as a television actor in many tele serials, particularly in comic role. His son Adhyayan Suman has joint movies most recently.

He started with Doordarshan tele serials and later has done many other successful programs. His most noted performances as a television actor in Doordarshan include Dekh bhai dekh (comic serial) and Reporter (crime thriller) during 90’s. Actually he became a popular face through these two Doordarshan serials. His other works include Andaz, Nilaam Ghar, Great Indian comedy show, Vilayati Babu, Movers n Shakers, Chote Babu, He-Man, Andaz, Amar Prem Aaha, Vilayati Babu, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Dekh India Dekh, Wah janab, Simply Shekhar, Amar Prem Aaha, Dial One aur Jeeto , Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar and Carry On Shekhar. He debut singing with his album Kuch kwaab aisa in 2009, music composed by Aadesh Srivasthava. He has also appeared as a participant in the television reality show – Raaz pichle janam ka. He has also hosted the show ‘Poll khol’ on Star news successively for 5 years. His name is always taken among the most respectable Television personalities of India and the successful names. He has also hosted comedy circus on Sony TV and Jab Khelo SAB Khelo on SAB TV

As an actor he debut with Utsav in 1984. This movie is famous for the hit song sung by Mangeshkar sisters – Lata and Asha, Man kyon behka re behka. The movie based on an ancient Sanskrit adapted script - Mricchakatika was an offbeat movie, most noted for its performances of Sashi Kapoor, Rekha, Sekhar Suman and Anuradha patel. Shekhar Suman played the role of a poor Brahmin Charudutta who falls in love with a courtesan Vasant Sena, the role played by versatile actress Rekha. Though he is married, things are ok as it’s the story of ancient India. His role was well appreciated too. He did a few more movies like Anubhav and Rehguzar, later switched on to character roles like Tridev, Chor machaya shor and Ek se badkar ek.
