Shekar Ravjiani Biography

Shekar Ravjiani is a versatile music director of Bollywood at present, who has rendered his voice to a few successful movies as well. He along with Vishal Dhadlani has given many music hits to Bollywood and this association is most popularly known as Vishal-Shekhar. In addition to music, they together have appeared in many musical shows of television like Jo jeeta wohi super star of Star television and Sa re ga ma pa Challenge 2007 of ZEE television. As music directors, their chart blusters include ‘Bachna e hasseeno (remixed version) and Khuda jaane’ of Bachna e haseeno, Alla ke bande of waise phi hota hai Part 2, Tu na jaane aas paas hai khuda and Title track of Anjaana Anjaani, Mein agar kahoo, Jag soona soona lage and title track of Om Shanthi Om, Khabar nahi, Shut up and Dance and Maa ka ladla of Dosthana, Tore bina of Kahani, E shona of Tara rum pum, Bahara, Sadka kiya, Bin tere and title track of I hate love stories, Mahi ve of Kaante, Musu Musu of Pyar mein kabhi kabhi, Palak tak chal and Dildaara of Tashan, Sheila ki jawani of Tees maar khan, Chammak chalo of Ra.one, Oo la la la of Dirty picture and Zindagi mein koi kabhi of Musafir were big hits. In 2008, he submitted a petition asking ban to media coverage while doing rescue operations.

Shekhar Ravjiani is a trained classical singer and he got formal training from Ustad Niaz Ahmed Khan. He was a participant of Sa re ga ma pa, singing talent competition of Zee tv in 1997. His songs for the Marathi ‘Saazni’ and ‘Saavli’ were big hits too. Along with Vishal Dhadlani, he has composed Anthem of Kolkata Knight Riders during Season 3. He is an active personal of reality shows of television channels too. Along with Shekhar, he has conducted many live shows in Spring Fest 2012 in IIT Kharagpur, Crossroads 2012 in SRCC, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University in Flare, Galgotias University, Greater Noida and many more.

As composers they have been nominated for Dus, Student of the year, Om shanthi om, Ra one, Ishquiya, Anjana Anjani, I hate love stories and Dosthana. In 2011, they have been nominated for three movies, but unfortunately they couldn’t win it even once. Their major hits as music directors include Om Shanthi Om, Anjana Anjani, Bachna e haseeno, Ta ra rum pum, Kaante, Dirty picture and I hate love stories. As a singer, Shekhar has sung for songs like Remixed version of Bachna e hasseno and Dil se mere of Pyar mein kabhi kabhi.
