Shashank Vennelakanti Biography

Shashank Vennelakanti – the son of famous lyricist Vennalakanti is a dialogue writer and screen writer associated with south Indian cinema. They have worked together for more than 70 movies. Shashank is known for writing dialogues of the dubbed movies and he rose to fame through the movies - Gazini, Manmadha, Pandem Kodi etc. But he doesn’t like someone to call his work as mere translation and he feels that it also requires the same effort as writing the original. A graduate of visual communication and dubbing artist turned into a dialogue writer, and he dreams to become a director. He is associated with almost 90% of dubbed movies of Tollywood.

Shashank started dubbing at a younger age and he dubbed for many artists including Simbu and even some portions for NTR in Ninnu Choodalani. He has been brilliant in academics and had deep interest in books, which prompted him to writing. Gradually apart from dubbing, he started off as a dialogue writer which earned him appreciation. In 2005 Ghajani gave him and his father a major breakthrough when the Tamil version was dubbed to Telugu. His father wrote the Telugu version of the movie songs. The movie was also a commercial hit. The same year Manmadha and Pandem Kodi also released, and he became a busy writer of the industry. His punch dialogues for action thrillers have always been appreciated.

As a dubbing artist, Rahul Bose for Kamal Hassan starrer Vishwaroopam was his toughest job. During his younger days he also worked as a TV actor for Gemini TV. Once he directed 30 episodes of a serial and that’s how he got interested in film direction. He worked with Kamal Hassan as an assistant director for two films. He plans to start a dubbing studio soon and mark his debut as a film director.
