Sharad Kapoor Biography

Sharad Kapoor is a popular Bollywood actor who appeared mostly during 90’s. He debut Bollywood in 1994 with the movie Mera pyara bharat. He has acted in many movies – both as hero and supporting actor. He has also done negative shaded roles. Among all his movies – Jaani Dushman ek anokhi kahani and Josh are his most memorable movies in which he played negative roles. As the leading hero he has acted in movies like Viswavidhatha (with A.R.Rehman music) opposite Pooja Batra and Aakhom mein tum ho opposite Suman Ranganathan.

Though he debut with Mera pyara Bharat, his presence was first noticed with the movie ‘Dastak’. It was the debut movie of Sushmita Sen. At that time, Sushmita has been live in the news post her Miss.Universe title. So, more than Sharad, Sushmita’s entry was noticed. Yet this movie helped Sarat to start a career in Bollywood. The movie released in the year 1996 failed at Box office too. In 1997, Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Tamanna was released. In this movie, Sharat played leading role opposite Pooja Bhatt. But this movie failed at box office, followed by the disasters of Viswavidhata and aakhom mein tum ho. His other movies in the late 90’s as leading actor also failed at box office. A few of such movies are Iski Topi Uske Sar, Trishakti, Radheshyam Seetaram, Sar aakhom par and Kahani Kismat Ki.

 Josh released in the year 2000 proved to be the turning point of his career. He played the opponent of Shah Rukh Khan in this movie and in many scenes, they had to act face to face. Sharad Kapoor accumulated a lot of appreciation for this role and this character with negative shades was the best role he played till then. He received a Filmfare nomination for best villain also. Then he moved on to supporting and character roles and became successful as well.
