Shanthi Krishna Biography

Shanthi Krishna is a beautiful actress of 1980’s and early 90’s of Malayalam as well as Tamil. Born to parents Sharada and R.Krishnan in Mumbai, she entered the film world through Malayalam movie ‘Shalini Ente Koottukari’ (Shalini is my friend). She did the role of Salini’s friend – supporting actress. She was noted for her performance and very soon she acted in a series of Malayalam films.

She married Srinath, her co-actor in many Malayalam and Tamil movies in 1984. But the love marriage didn’t exist long. They divorced in 1995 and both got married later, to other persons. Shanthi married Director of Rajiv Gandhi Group of Institutions, Mr.S.Bajore in 1999 and got settled with her family life.

She is known most for her roles she did in numerous films of 1980’s and a set of tele serials of Doordarshan of which ‘Scooter’ is most famous. She has won several awards as an actress for movies as well as serials. She is a trained classical dancer and does performances in temples and concerts.  Apart from Malayalam movies, she has acted in a few movies of 80’s. Her first Tamil movie was Paneer Pushpakangal (Rose flowers) of 1981 and last one was Nerukku Ner in 1997 before she settled with her married life.  Sivappu Malli and Shimla Special need special mention.

Her best Malayalam movies include Shalini Ente Koottukari, Savitham, Mangalam nerunnu, Kelkkatha Shabdam, Nidra, Tharaattu, Chillu, Swapnalokam, Vishu lokam, Kauravar, Maya mayooram, Maha nagaram, Pingami, Pakshe, Chakoram and Parinayam. She has been paired with almost all leading actors of Malayalam including Mammootty, Mohan lal, Srinath, Sidhique, Murali, Venu nagavally, Balachandra menon and Devan. Yet audience accepted most, her pairing with her first husband Srinath.

As an artist, she has won several awards.  In 1994 for Chakoram, she won her one and only best actress award of Malayalam. In 1993, she won the second best actress for the movie Savidham where she acted as the wife of Nedumudi Venu and mother of Mathu. This movie clearly tells the frustration faced by a lady when her daughter – born out of marriage comes face to face with her. The way by which she hides the fact from her husband, yet shows the love to her first daughter is really commentable.
