Shanmuga Pandian Biography

Shanmuga Pandian is a film actor associated with Tamil movies. He is the son of veteran actor and politician, Vijayakanth. In 2015, he was introduced to the industry as a lead hero in Captain Cine Creations' film, Sagaptham, co-starring Neha Hinge and Shubra Aiyappa. But the movie mostly received negative reviews and was a box office failure. He shared screen space with his father for the film,   Thamizhan Endru Sol. But the movie’s release got delayed due to the ill health of his father. His second release was Madura Veeran released in 2018, based on the issues and politics associated with jallikattu. Pandian has two released movies in his 3-years career.

Shanmuga Pandian was born into a family with strong film background. His father Vijayakanth is a well-established hero of Tamil screen of 1980s and 1990s, who owns many successful films to his credit. Following the footsteps of his father, Pandian too entered the film industry as an actor. Actually, though he was interested in films, he didn’t plan to become an actor. He was interested in football, and a few injuries changed all equations. He started off playing the lead role for 2015 movie, Sagaptham. A romantic action entertainer dialogues for the movie were penned by Velumani and the story belongs to Naveen. But the movie was panned by critics and audience alike.

His second project, Thamizhan Endru Sol aside his father is yet to get released. His recent release, Madura Veeran was based on the controversies of the cultural event Jallikattu. He co-stared with Samuthirakani for his second film, released in the year 2018. The movie set in rural setup of Madhurai region opened to mixed reviews. The movie also marked the directorial debut of cameraman, P. G. Muthiah. After the movie release, the actor has planned to resume the shooting of the delayed release, Thamizhan Endru Sol, the movie’s shooting which was halted due to thyroid issues of his father.
