Shalmalee Desai Biography 
Shalmalee Desai Sachdev is a TV host and popular actress of Hindi television soaps who portrays supporting roles. She is best known for playing the supporting role of Sojal in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. In 2015 she married the male protagonist of the same show - Avinash Sachdev, one of the leading male actors of television industry. She has hosted one show, Just Khans on UTV in 2013 and has won one reality show - Lux The Chosen One on the same channel in 2012. The reality show, Lux The Chosen One proved to be her major break to television industry.
She was born in Pune on March 17, 1989. She is a trained Kathak dancer who has learnt this art form for 15 years. She is also a golf player. She completed BA in Psychology, followed by M.B.A from Wellinker College in 2011 and started her professional career as a management trainee with a TV channel, before she moved to entertainment industry as an actress and host. Her friends happened to see the audition advertisement on UTV’s social network page. Desai sent her pictures and she was called for the audition. Karishma Kapoor was the judge of the show and Genelia Deshmukh was her mentor. She won "Lux The Chosen One" reality show in 2012 and after this show, she became official face of UTV Stars channel for the year 2013. It gave her enough exposure to TV audience and opened her doors to TV soaps.
Shalmalee has always dreamt to become a Bollywood actress since young. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir in 2013 marked her television debut. The show was aired on Star Plus during 2013-2015. She played the supporting role of Sojal Varad Agnihotry. It was followed by Ek Hasina Thi, Encounter and Gulmohar Grand. She married Avinash Sachdev in Mumbai on June 16, 2015 in a low-key affair.
