Sayeeda Khan was a former actress of Bollywood, who was active during the era of 1950s and 1960s. She was married to noted film maker of Bollywood – BrijSadanahknown for the successful films, Ye RaatPhir Na Aayegi, UstadonKe Ustad, Night in London, Victoria No. 203, Yakeen, Professor Pyarelal etc. Noted film actor and director Kamal Sadanah is their son. Unfortunately she was shot dead by her husband on the 20^th birthday of Kamal Sadanah, following an argument. Her daughter Namratawas also shot dead, her son Kamal Sadanah was severely injured and later the director took his life also.Kamal Sadanah was the single survivor of the shootout, who 20 years later made a short film on the unfortunate incident and named it A Moment of Pause.Prem Chopra enacted the role of BrijSadanah in the film.

Sayeeda Khan, also called Saeeda Khan was a small time actress who started her career in Bollywood around 1960s.Her mother was Anwari Begum, an actress of yesterdays. She mostly appeared in B and C grade Hindi movies and was not successful as an actress. She later played a few supporting roles.Flat No. 9 (1961), Main HoonAlladin (1965), ApnaHaathJagannath(1960), Sindbad, Alibaba and Alladin (1965) are some of her noted appearances. She played lead role opposite actor-singer Kishore Kumar in the 1960 film - ApnaHaathJagannath. The popular song of the movie - JhayiBijliKhata was pictured in the duo.AshaBhosle and Kishore Kumar sang the duet.

She got married to film producer-director BrijSadanah. The couple had two children – Namrata and Kamal Sadanah. She converted to Hinduism after her marriage and took retirement from films. Vaasna (1968) was her last release. On October 21st, on the 20^th birthday of Kamal Sadanah,BrijSadanah shot all his family members and killed himself. Kamal Sadanah was the only survivor.

There were rumours that ShaguftaRafique, the leading screenwriter of Mahesh bhatt’s camp is the love child of Sayeeda Khan before she got married to BrijSadanah.ShaguftaRafique was the adopted mother of yesteryear actressAnwari Begum, whose real daughter is Sayeeda Khan.Sayeeda financially supported her mother and younger sister till her death. After her death, the family lost their single source of financial support. ShaguftaRafique to support her adopted mother turned a bar dancer and a prostitute. But years later she became a successful scriptwriter.
