Sarim Momin Biography

 

Sarim Momin is a screenplay writer, film director and lyricist of Bollywood who is mostly associated with Ram Gopal Varma’s camp. His wife is actress Gauri Karnik, of Sur: The melody of love fame. He has written the scripts of Ram Gopal Varma’s movies – Aag, Darling, Sarkar, Rann, Rakta Charitra, Rakta Charitra 2 and GO. He has also scripted Priyadarshan’s comedy thriller Bhagam bhag, loosely based on the sequel of RamjiRao Speaking (Hera Pheri), Mannar Mathai speaking. His other projects include – Emi, Hide and seek, Happy Husbands, Hangman, Blackboard, Green Chick, The film and Allah Ke Banday.

 

Sarim Momin was born on 10 December 1978 in Bombay. He started his career as an Urdu poet, but later concentrated on both film lyrics as well as film scripts. His association with Ram Gopal Varma has been very successful till now. He got married to actress Gauri Karnik, who is one year elder to him in the year 2010 and now lives in Bhiwandi, Mumbai.

 

As a lyricist he has written songs for Rann, Hide N Seek, Allah Ke Banday, Go, Bhaagam Bhaag, Darling, Sarkaar, The Film, Rakta Charitra, Rakta Charitra 2, Green chick, EMI and Ram Gopal Varma Ki AAG. A few of his songs include - Choti Choti Yaadon Se – Hangman, Friday Night - Hide N Seek, Tu hi meri and Tumse Nas Nas Mein - Happy Husbands, Hai Aag Ye, Dum and Holi song -Ram Gopal Varma Ki AAG, Shake your feathers - Green Chick, Patthar ko kuchlo - Rakta Charitra 2, Her Jazbe mein - Rakta Charitra, Kaala Jaadu, Mayoos and Maula - Allah Ke Banday, The Want Of Power Cacophony and Jitni Oonchaiyan – Sarkar, Ankhon hi ankhon mein – EMI, Rann Hai, Jana Gann Mana, Mera Bharat Mahaan, Kaanch ke jaise saaf usool and Remote ko baaher Phenk – Rann, Ek Pal Ki Zindagi Hai - D and Agyaat hai – Agyaat. His song, Jana gana mana of Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann became a national controversy as he inserted the word ‘Rann’ in between the lyrics.

 

He has also worked with Lucky Ali for his album, Raasta-Man and has also written the song of Cricket world cup 2004, where India reached the finals.
