Sanjoy Bandopadhyay Biography 
Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay is an accomplished Hindustani sitar player from Bengal. He is one among the most favourite disciples of Radhika Mohan Maitra. He performs in a unique blend of Senia-Shahjehanpur, Rampur-Senia and Etawah schools of Hindustani music. He currently serves as the Chair Professor at the Department of Instrumental Music, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He has worked as a music professor in many colleges and universities across North and East India. Till now he has released 11 musical albums too. Sanjoy has performed worldwide including American, European and African continents. He has also collaborated with many international artists for fusion works. He also served as an advisor and expert for many music and educational institutions.
He was born in Bengal on September 16, 1954. His name is also pronounced as Sanjoy Banerjee. He is one of the foremost sitar players of the current generation. He is involved in a number in collaborative research projects at the national and international levels. Chicago-Berlin-Kolkata the three city music project supported by the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, Germany is one among such projects. Currently he is associated with the pianist Professor Yaroslav Senyshin for music collaboration. He is a visiting professor at many international universities and has been an artist in residence at University of Chicago in 2009.
He is a Top-Grade musician of the All India Radio, and he has performed in many music festivals across India and in foreign countries too. His performance as a sitarist is telecasted on AIR frequently. He has recorded discs with RPG-HMV, India; India Archive Music, Inc and many international music companies too. He often experiments with post-modern music. He is equally verse as a musician, music composer and teacher.
