Indra Kumar’s Mann (1999) was their debut movie and till middle 2000’s, they were busy in the industry. However they have lost somewhere from Bollywood music nowadays, despite having scored many melodious tunes for many leading directors. Their first released soundtrack was for the 1999 film Mann, with Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala playing the leading roles.

Sanjeev Rathod and Darshan Rathod are born in a musical family with good filmy background. They are the sons of the gifted music director of Bollywood music industry. He is none other than Shravan Rathod, who along with Nadeem has fully dominated the industry during 90’s with the magical name – Nadeem Shravan.  Successful playback singer of Bollywood, Vinod Rathod and musician and singer Roop Kumar Rathod are their paternal uncles.  Ghazal and album singer Sonali Rathod is their aunt.

Sanjeev was trained classical music under Pandit Kallika Prasad. His grandfather, Pandit Chhaturbhuj Rathod was a trained vocalist too. Thus Sanjeev Darshan was born in a musical family of a great Pandit and three very successful musicians of Bollywood 90’s. His grandfather was a good promoter of classical as well as semi-classical music.

Sanjeev Darshan’s debut movie was for director Mahendra Shah and Vimal Kumar, a movie that was never released. In 1998, they composed a Gujarati album for the Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. Famous director of Bollywood, Indra Kumar of Dil – Beta – Raja fame happened to hear their recordings and liked it. This duo composed 40 tunes for Indra Kumar and they were used for many of his films later, the first one being Mann released in the year 1999. Though the movie was marketed well, it earned below expectations. However all the songs of the movie became super hit and somewhat helped the movie to survive from a total loss. But the hit song ‘Chaaha hai tujhko’ was a direct lift from a Tamil movie and the song was the top chartbuster of 1998 – Etho oru paatu. Similarly ‘Gum hai kyon’ is a direct lift from a hit song of Tamil movie – Awwai shanmukhi.
