Sanjay Mishra Biography 
Sanjay Mishra is an American Guitarist/Composer born in India. But now, he is a citizen of US. His music belongs to contemporary style of fusion, jam and classical. His released albums include - The Crossing (1991), Blue Incantation (1995), Rescue (2000) and Chateau Benares (2006). Sanjay plays a nylon string MIDI classical electric guitar and uses various looping devices and MIDI instruments to create a lush sound. Now he is the Head of the Recording Technology Program at Northern Virginia Community College in the Washington D.C.
Sanjay Mishra was born in Kolkata, India. He graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Johns Hopkins University in 1985. He released his first album, ‘The crossing’ in 1991. But it was through his second album, Blue Incantation released in 1995, he became popular. Guitarist Jerry Garcia was also featured in this musical album. Their association became a big success. It was one of the last works and collaborations of this famous guitarist. He released his third album, Port Djema in 1998 and fourth one, Rescue in 2000. In his last released album, Chateau Benares, he featured two famous artists, DJ Logic and Keller Williams. This work got good reviews from National Public Radio and The Washington Post.
Mishra’s compilation albums are Music From the Tea Lands (2000), Deep Orient, Vol. 2 (2001) and Indian Spirit – 3 (2009). He has also done guest appearances for Trusty – Goodbye, Dr. Fate (1995) and Dream (2007). He has also published one book on music and guitar – Guitar Atlas: India. He is known as a music composer of French movies also. In 1998, he composed music for French film Port Djema, for which he won The Lifetime Vision Award at the Hamptons Film Festival in New York. Its music was described as "hauntingly beautiful" by music reviewers.
