Sanjay Khanduri Biography

Sanjay Khanduri is a Bollywood director who directed the movies - Ek Chalis Ki Last Local and Kismet Love Paisa Dilli. His debut movie, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local was an experimental film with Neha Dhupia & Abhay Deol in the lead role which received positive response from critics and won ‘Silver Palm Award’ For ‘Excellence in Cinema’ at Mexico International Film Festival and Lion’s best debutant director award. However his second movie, Kismet Love Paisa Dilli received poor response from Indian critics as well as box office. However the movie received The Golden Palm for Best Director in Mexico International Film Festival and was also chosen for screening in 17th Annual Vancouver International Asian Film Festival in Vancouver. The movie featured Vivek Oberoi opposite Mallika Sherawat in lead roles.

Sanjay Khanduri was born 13 June 1979 in Delhi. His family was originally from Uttarakhand brought up in New Delhi. He did his schooling from Blue Bells International School, Delhi and graduated from Delhi University in Bachelor of Electronics. But after studies he chose journalism as his work area and gradually moved to ad films and finally a film maker. Earlier he worked with TV18 as a correspondent and later joined Crest Communication, expertise in Special Effects in Advertisements & Feature Films.

Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, released in 2007 marked his debut as a film director. The movie was a box office hit and regarded as cult classic in Bollywood cinema. Sanjay was its screenwriter as well. He wrote its script based on a true incident of his life of missing his last train back home, one rainy night. Then he planned a franchise of his hit movie and titled, 'Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Metro'. But later he changed its name to Kismet Love Paisa Dilli and the movie was a box office failure.
