Sanjay Gadhvi Biography

Sanjay Gadhvi is a very popular and successful director of Bollywood known for Dhoom series. He has directed its three installments, breaking the myths surrounding around the ‘Bad man’ of Bollywood cinema. Through Dhoom series, he redefined the ‘villain’ characters of Indian cinema and truth is that, those negative characters are appreciated and prompted by audience than the positive ones. Most recently, the much awaited project, the second sequel of Dhoom, Dhoom 3 has been released in theaters on December 20, 2013 with Aamir Khan playing main villain’s role. The series known for idolizing the negative shaded character have been earlier portrayed by John Abraham (2004) and Hrithik Roshan (2006) respectively. It took 7 years for the next movie of this series. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra has been the part of this series in the same role of cop and thief.

 

He was born to Manubhai Gadhvi, a famous orator on 22 November 1965. He was born at Junagadh in Gujarat. His father too, in his younger age tried his luck in films. But he couldn’t succeed and later he concentrated on to social works. As a director, he debut with Tere liye in 2000. The movie starring Imran Ahmed Khan, Sonali Khare, Neelu Kohli and Hiten Paintal gave a troubled start to the filmy career of this director. But with his second film, he came to limelight. Mere yaar ki shaadi hai was a box office hit and it began his long term association with Uday Chopra.

 

With Dhoom released two years later, he returned in a bang, giving new definitions to villains on screen. The movie gave a big break to John Abraham and was the top hit movie of 2004. Powerful songs and its picturizations plus super bikes were the real plus points of this movie. It was a visual treat onscreen and audience loved the movie a lot. In 2006, he came back with the sequel of Dhoom with Aishwarya and Hrithik in title roles. He retained the supporting crew of the prequel. This movie too was the top grosser of the year and earned Hrithik a Filmfare for best actor. Kidnap (2008) and Ajab Gazabb Love (2012) were his other releases before Dhoom 3.
