Sanchari Vijay Biography

Sanchari Vijay is a National award winning actor of Kannada Cinema. He is also known as a theater artist. He was awarded the Best Actor for his performance in the Kannada language film Naanu Avanalla...Avalu, at the 62nd National Film Awards. His role as a transgender bagged him the prestigious awards at National award section. He is only the third actor after M. V. Vasudeva Rao and Charuhasan to win the National Award for Best Actor from Kannada film industry. National award for best regional film was won by Harivu, a movie where Sanchari played male protagonist. He reached films only in 2011 and Naanu Avanalla...Avalu is only his fifth film.

 

His real name is Vijay Kumar B. He was born at Panchanahalli, Kadur of Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. He holds an enginnering degree and worked as a lecturer in a college and then moved to Bangalore. Then he worked as a theatre artist before he reached entertainment industry. Till now he has done about 10 Kannada films, mainstream and offbeat, and one film each in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu respectively. Prakash Raj’s Oggranne was a tri-lingual, where he did a small role of a transgender.

 

He beat Mammootty, Aamir Khan and even Shahid Kapoor to win the National award. The movie was inspired from a character on the book - Living Smile Vidya. A big cheer for ardent fans of parallel cinema after the amazing win of Sanchari!  He closely watched transgender at traffic and also their colonies to do homework for the film. He would love to work with Shankar and A R Murugadoss. Rangappa Hogbitna, Dasavala, Harivu, Un Samayal Arayil and Naanu Avanalla...Avalu are his noted movies. Killing Veerappan is his upcoming flick slated to release on December 18, 2015.
