Salam Bappu Biography

Salam Bappu is a young film director associated with Malayalam cinema. He made his directorial debut through Mohanlal starrer Red wine in 2013. The movie received mixed response from critics and was a box office failure. The movie also starred star icon Fahadh Faasil and it was for the first time these two popular actors shared the screen space for a movie. Asif Ali, Saiju Kurup, Jayaprakash, Mia, Meghana Raj and Satheesh Menon also formed part of the film.

 

He is in the limelight with his upcoming flick – Manglish which stars megastar Mammootty in the lead role. The movie also includes Caroline Beck, Srinda Ashab, Vinay Forrt and Aneesh G Menon in pivot roles. Thus this young film maker owns a distinction of directing both the megastars of the Malayalam industry for both his releases till now. He has also co-directed a few foreign language movies.

 

Bappu belongs to Palapetty, a village in Ponnani of Malappuram district. He was born on 15 May 1975 to Bappu Haji and Ayishumma. He has two brothers. He is married to Ameena and the couple has three children. He holds an LLB degree and journalism degree too. He started his film career as an assistant director under Lal Jose since early 2000s. Meesha madhavan, Pattalam, Rasikan, Chandu pottu, Diamond necklace etc are a few movies in which Bappu worked as the assistant of Lal Jose.

 

He made his film debut through Red Wine in 2013, which was a commercial failure. But he is in limelight at the right moment for his upcoming release – Manglish. The comedy tells the misunderstandings and confusions when the lead hero Mammootty uses English language for communication – the language he is not familiar with.
