Sachin Gupta (theatre) Biography

Sachin Gupta is a playwright and stage director. He has also acted in a couple of plays. He is a recipient of National Award "Natya Bhushan". In January 2014, his Hindi feature film Paranthe Wali Gali was released with Anuj Saxena, Neha Pawar, Mohinder Gujral and Vijayant Kohli as leading stars. This romantic comedy movie was produced by Sachin and Sushma Gupta. Gupta has directed both Hindi and English plays. A few of his English plays are Celebration Of Life (2003), Handicapped City (2004), Suicide is Painless (2005) – bilingual and A Roller Coaster Ride (2007). The Play Begins @8pm (2010), No Cheating Today (2005), Don't Miss my Party (2005), Devil’s Carnival (2005), Live Telecast (2005) - Bilingual, KailashNath weds Madhumati (2007), Great Mind At work (2005) and Next Indian Idol (2005).

 

He was born in Delhi on 9 March 1978. His association with theatre started when he was only 12 and has been associated with 75 plays as an actor, director and producer. Gupta is a qualified software engineer and the founder and CEO of Chilsag Entertainment Network, a media and entertainment company. In 2003 he founded Chilsag Chillies Theatre Company which staged 13 plays, written and directed by Sachin Gupta. It included musicals as well as social dramas and a few satire works as well.

 

He formed a Theatre laboratory and a Drama Therapy centre and trained more than 300 actors in various acting programs. In 2005 he moved to North America to fetch more ideas for his works. In 2011, he formed Chilsag Motion Pictures, a film production house and the movie, Paranthe Wali Gali was released under this banner.
