S. M. Zaheer Biography 
S. M. Zaheer is a character artist associated with Hindi cinema and television. This talented artist and nice person is popularly known among the colleagues as Zaheer Saab. He has done some of the pivot roles in Bollywood films like pivotal character roles such as – Sangharsh, Veer Zaara, My Name is Khan, Zubeidaa, Maachis, Sardari Begum, Aarakshan in the recent times. He is a part of India’s first two television serials - Hum Log (1984) and Buniyaad (1986) on Doordarshan. Later too he has played character roles in many other Doordarshan serials, apart from other daily soaps.
He played the character role of Prof. Sudhir in India’s first soap - Hum Log (1984). He also appeared in Doordarshan shows like – Dastoor, Phir Wahi Talash, Badalte Rishte, Dastoor, Neem ka ped etc, apart from telefilms like Fakhar Uddin Ali Ahmad. Currently he appears in television show, Tere Sheher Mein. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) is his latest Bollywood release, in which he played the role of a doctor. Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story, Saat Phere, Chhoti Bahu… Sindoor bin Suhagan, Chotti Bahu, Meri Doli Tere Angana, Kayamath, Maryada etc are other noted television works.
His full name is Sayed Mohammad Zaheer. He was born in 1947 in Barabanki District of Uttar Pradesh. Though he had deep passion in acting, he completed his engineering degree before taking acting as his profession. He also worked as an engineer for long years and financially supported his family before he pursued his passion in acting. He started off as a stage actor with one of Vijay Tendulkar’s drama in the year 1975. "Jaat Hi Poochho Sadhu Ki" was his first recognized role as a stage actor. Since then he accepted numerous character roles in all forms of entertainment and is active in the industry till now.
