S. D. Shibulal Biography 
S. D. Shibulal is an Indian business executive born in Kerala. He is one of the founding members of Infosys aside N. R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N. S. Raghavan, S. Gopalakrishnan, K. Dinesh and Ashok Arora, when the group resigned from Patni computers. Now Infosys is one of the biggest private sector firms of India. At present Shibulal serves as the chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys. Shibulal is a member of the board of trustees, and the Metropolitan College Dean’s Advisory Board of Boston University. He is also a board member of Global Corporate Governance Forum’s Private Sector Advisory Group, Seoul International Business Advisory Council and Globethics.net.
He was born in Alappuzha in 1955 as a single child to Damodaran, an ayurvedic doctor and Sarojini, a state excise department employee. His parents desired their son to take teaching as profession and stay at hometown itself. He completed graduation from S. D. College, Alappuzha and took Master’s degree in physics from Maharaja's College Ernakulam. Later he obtained an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Boston University in 1987. Shibulal started his career in 1979, as a software engineer in Patni Computer Systems, one of the earliest IT firms in India.
He along with his colleagues resigned Patni computers and started Infosys with a modest capital in the year 1981. He played a pivotal role in the Infosys' successful journey to the top and his areas of work included project management initiatives, followed by client relationships in North America. He was instrumental in the evolution of the Global delivery model. He took a break from Infosys for 5 years and joined Sun Microsystems in the US. In 1997 he returned back.
