Rupesh Paul Biography

Rupesh Paul is a noted scriptwriter and film director associated with Indian films. He is best known for directing the erotic drama - Kamasutra 3D (2015), which starred Sherlyn Chopra and Milind Gunaji in the lead roles and supporting roles were played by Makarand Deshpande, Gajendra Chauhan, MD Asif etc. The movie was screened at the Annual Cannes Film Festival in 2014. Saint Dracula 3D, My Mother's Laptop, The Temptation Between My Legs, You Can't Step Twice Into the Same River, Mrigam, Pithavum Kanyakayum and What The F are his other released movies. He has directed Malayalam, Hindi and English films. He is also a noted poet. He is also a film producer who owns Rupesh Paul Productions Limited.

 

He belongs to Amballur of Thrissur district, Kerala, born to an engineer. His mother is a lecturer. His school education was completed at Thrissur. He completed B Tech in Computer in 2001. He started writing poetry at the age of 10 and published his first collection of poems - Penkutty Oru Raashtramannu in 1998, which won ‘Changampuzha Award for the Best Young Poet’ and Mathrubhumi Kavitha Puraskaram. At the age of 22, he started his career as a journalist associated with Malayala Manorama daily. He is married to noted writer and sociologist Indu Menon.

 

As a film maker he started off in 2008 with two short films - The Temptation Between My Legs, and One Cannot Step into Same River Twice. The Temptation Between My Legs was not approved by Censor board while the second one was screened at various film festivals. My Mother's laptop (2008) was his debut full length film, starring Suresh Gopi, Shweta Menon, Urmila Unni and Padmapriya in the lead roles. The Secret Diaries of Monalisa (2011) – was his first international film.

 

In 2012, he directed the English horror thriller - Saint Dracula 3D with a British cast and the movie was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. His first venture under his newly formed production company is Kamasutra 3D. The Vanishing Act is his upcoming flick - based on the mysterious disappearance of the Malaysian Flight MH370. He is also working for a movie based on the real life story of the juvenile accused in the notorious Delhi gang rape case. Through the movie, he tries to explore the reasons why a young boy who went on to become a sex offender. The movie is being titled - Monologues Of An Indian Sex Maniac.
