Rupal Patel Biography

Rupal Patel is a very popular character artist of Hindi television. In fact she is a household name among television viewers. She shot to fame with her role as Kokila Modi in Star Plus serial Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. An accomplished theater artist, she has spent more than 15 years in this field. She is a leading figure of Gujarati theatre who owns a Theater group namely Panorama Art Theatre. This troupe is quite popular for children plays, which experiments with different genres like folk, musical, thriller, comedy, emotional and political satire. She has also done a few film roles, though not quite significant.

Rupal is a Gujarati. She studied at the prestigious National School of Drama in New Delhi, before her entry to theatre world. She is married to her classmate at NSD, noted theatre artist and television actor, Radha Krishna Dutt known for his role as Lord Brahma in Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev. She was first seen in 1985 Bollywood film, Mehak and has later appeared in the highly acclaimed National award winning movies - Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1992) and Mammo (1994). Jaago, Pehchaan: The Face of Truth and Papeeha are other noted appearances. She has also worked as an art director for the film - Sambar Salsa in 2007.

She has been a part of the popular Gujarati serial 'Sau Dada Sasuna', which helped her immensely in evolving as an actress. The show was aired on ETV Gujarati in 2002. Later she became popular through Hindi television series as well. In 2009 she portrayed the role of Vrinda in the popular series on Colors - Jaane Kya Baat Hui. Based on the life of two female cousins, the show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya gained her quick attention in a short time frame. The actress says that unlike her reel life she never uses make-up and long bindis in her real life.
