Rohit Roy Biography

Rohit Roy is a successful actor and host of television. Occasionally he appears in Bollywood movies in supporting roles also. His noted television works include - Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand and Swabhimaan. He has done character roles and cameo appearances in movies such as Shootout at Lokhandwala, Ek hasina thi, Hum Toh Mohabbat Karega, Apartment, Kaante, Don Muthu Swami, Fashion, Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye, Delhii Heights and Plan. Rohit Roy has also directed a short film named "Rice Plate” - as a part of the anthology film Dus Kahaniyan. He has also acted in the movie. He played one of the lead hero roles of 1997 Bollywood flicks – Aankom mein tum ho, aside Suman Ranganathan and Koi Kisi Se Kum Nahin.

 
Rohit has hosted television reality show - Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - two seasons and Wild 10. He has also appeared in television serials like Hum Hai Dilwale, Sarrkkar, Bhabhi, Kabhie Kabhie, Hitler Didi, Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein, Milan, Virasat, The Dreamer and Kkhusum. He is married to television actress, Manasi Joshi, sister of Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi. He is the younger brother of actor Ronit Roy of film Udaan fame, who works both in movies as well as television.

 
Jaan teri naam (1992) was one of the earliest breaks of Ronit Roy, where he played supporting role. Later Rohit came to limelight with 1995 soap opera of Doordarshan – Swabhimaan. Like many big stars of television and movies of today, Swabhimaan provided him big break to acting world. Then he got opportunity to work in a group of young actors aside movies like Aankom mein tum ho, Koi Kisi Se Kum Nahin and Koi Kisi Se Kum Nahin. But none of them survived in box office and later he moved on to supporting roles and television. He became successful also.
