Robin Bhatt Biography
Robin Bhatt is a famous scriptwriter of Bollywood known for the movies, Baazigar, Sadak, Son of Sardar,
Aashique, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Raja Hindustani, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, All the best, Omkara, Daag
the fire, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Humshakals etc. He has also played character roles
in a few movies like Chalte Chalte, Kartoos, Golmaal Returns, U Me Aur Hum etc. In a career spanning
to about 25 years, he wrote film scripts of more than 60 movies of which Baazigar received Filmfare
award for best screenplay. He is a member of famous Bhatt family and a younger son of famous director
- Nanabhai Bhatt, patriarch of the Bhatt film family. His uncle Balwant Bhatt was also a film director.
In fact he has been associated with Bhatt camp as a scriptwriter and dialogue writer for quite a few
movies.
Among his 8 siblings, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt are famous film makers of Bollywood while Pooja
Bhatt and Alia Bhatt, his nieces are established heroines. Film star Emraan Hashmi, film director Vishesh
Bhatt of ‘Murder’ fame and Rahul Bhatt - celebrities of Bollywood are his nephews. Emraan Hashmi’s
maternal grandmother, actress Purnima Das Verma and his stepmother actress Shirin Mohammad
Ali were siblings. Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt were his stepbrothers, with whom he spent his
childhood.
Robin was born in Mumbai at his maternal grandfather’s house in Vile Parle. His childhood days were
spent in Andheri, where he completed his schooling from M. A. High school. Then he completed his
studies at Bhawan’s College and Mithibai College. He was passionate in cricket than studies during his
school and college days. Indeed he was good in sports. He worked as an assistant director before fully
engaged as a script writer. Apart from scripts, he has also written the stories and dialogues of Bollywood
movies like Aap Mujhey Acche Lagne Lage, Ajnabee, Gumraah, Dhanwan, Zamaana Deewana, Gaddar,
Duplicate, Betaabi, Kartoos, Jaanwar etc.
