Rj Balaji Biography

Balaji Patturaj, popularly known as RJ Balaji, is an Indian radio jockey and television show host. He has also appeared in a few movies in guest roles. ‘Take it Easy‘ made him a star anchor and is a radio jockey of the program, Cross Talk at BIG FM 92.7. ‘Vadacurry’ is his upcoming movie where he acts aside Jai and Swati Reddy and Sunny Leone is to debut Tamil cinema in a special appearance through this movie. Ethir Neechal and Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru are his other screen appearances.

Born on 20 June 1985, Balaji was brought up in Chennai. His schooling was done at different schools in Chennai. He joined the Amrita School of Communication in Coimbatore for a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. But very soon he realized that it’s not his cup of tea. One day he saw a newspaper advertisement of a radio station that auditioned for RJs and was selected in 2006. He discontinued his journalism course and started his career as a radio jockey in FM. He started his career as an RJ in Coimbatore, where he hosted a 3-hour morning drive show called Hello Coimbatore.

After four years, he joined at BIG FM 92.7 and hosted the evening primetime show - Take it Easy, which made him a popular RJ. Then he anchored Cross Talk, where he makes prank calls to unsuspecting victims, which became popular among youth. Balaji won the RJ of the Year (Tamil) and Best Programme Broadcast after 11 am (Tamil) awards for ‘Take it Easy with Balaji’ at the 2012 Indian Excellence in Radio Awards. In December 2012, he announced that he would stop Cross Talk, in response to the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha. In November 2013, Balaji decided to stop the segment 120 Rs. on his show where he reviewed Tamil films, which brought wide criticisms from fans.
