Rita Bhaduri Biography

Rita Bhaduri is a film actress of Bollywood, who is now active with small screen. She played supporting roles during 1970’s and moved on to lead roles in 1980’s and later settled with character roles as well as television roles. She is a household name among television audience and has portrayed many memorable roles. She played lead role opposite Kamal Hassan in the 1974 Malayalam film 'Kanyakumari'. The romantic song 'Chandra palungu mani mala’ pictured on both is still popular. She has portrayed supporting roles in Indra kumar movies, ‘Raja’ and ‘Beta’ and received a nomination at Filmfare for Raja in 1995.She has been in the team of many successful Bollywood movies like Kabhi haa kabhi naa, Kya kehna, Virasat, Hero no.1, Anth, Aashiq awara, Ghar ho to aisa, Rang, Dalaal, Dil vil pyar vyar and Love.

 

She is the daughter of actress Chandrima Bhadhuri. Rita is a graduate of 1973 batch of Pune Film and Television Institute. Noted Bollywood and Malayalam actress, Zarina Wahab was her classmate at FTII. In 1975, she played a supporting role in Julie. She played the sister’s role of the leading actor of the movie, Vikram. The popular party song, Yeh raatein nayi suhani was pictured on Rita, sung by Lata Mangeshkar. She is remembered for, 'Sawan ko aane do', the movie in which she excelled as an artist. This successful movie with beautiful songs sung by Yesudas is remembered for her performance as well.

 

In the action thriller 'Khanjar' (1980), she played the role of 'Jyothi’ who is been murdered in the movie. She played lead role in Kishore Kumar’s comedy movie - 'Chalti ka Nam Zindagi' in 1981. As a television actress, Bani - Ishq Da Kalma and Rishtey are her popular roles.
